Our Story
The Joseph Cotrone Foundation was created to honor the life and legacy of Joseph “Joe” Cotrone, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who courageously battled ALS. Born in Brooklyn in 1946, Joe dedicated his life to family, hard work, and creating memories with loved ones. From summers spent at the family cottage in Deposit, NY to laughter-filled evenings with his grandsons, Joe’s heart was always with those he cherished most.
In 2001, Joe was diagnosed with ALS. Despite the challenges that came with the disease, he faced it with determination, hope, and resilience — trying every avenue available in the fight against ALS. On January 18, 2004, Joe surrendered to his battle, but his legacy of love, strength, and perseverance lives on. The Foundation was established so that Joe’s fight would continue — not only in memory of his life but also in support of every family affected by ALS.
